Binti

Binti are six singing sisters. Hadiel, Yasmin, Amina, Rana, Sherien and Fedia Holail Mohamed grew up together with a passion for music. A few years ago, this shared passion made them unite their voices: Binti was born. For this name they were inspired by their Egyptian roots: Binti means 'my daughter' in Arabic.

The band started mainly as a vocal-acoustic band with six voices, one guitar and a flute. They interpreted songs in different genres from reggae, over barbershop and blues.
In 2010, a demo 'Everybody loves my baby' was recorded, which was sold out in no time.

With this minimal instrumentation they got to know each other very well musically, and started to play more often, combining very different kind of venues and stages: the streets of Ghent, gardens, living rooms, and also the bigger festival stages.

Since 2012 Binti started making her own music, wherefore they extended their instrumentation. They had some nice cooperations with bigger Belgian bands such as Absynthe Minded, Sioen, Stadt and Flip Kowlier.

Binti decided to record its own music and independently released their first EP "Our Light" with their own music in March 2014. The first single to be taken from this EP is "My Sun, My Moon". This song takes Binti back to where it all began - stripped back guitar and vocals, creating a rough and honest sound.

In 2013, they started to go across the borders and gave their first concert in Egypt, in the venue of 100copies in Downtown Cairo. One year later, they played another gig in Egypt, on the shore in Hurgada for an Italian-Belgian festival.

Nowadays they are still creating new music, evolving to a bit more rough, knee-bending kind of music. Their sound is still forming and Binti gets her inspiration from six different lifes in different contexts, lifestages, cultures and experiences.

They recently recorded their latest EP "Biology", and will be released in september 2018.
First single "I feel it coming" was released in the beginning of the summer of 2018.
